Windows Hosting is used when you develop your site in ASP which needs IIS, where as Linux is good for PHP (though you can host PHP sites also on Windows Hosting). For HTML Sites both Linux & Windows would work fine. _________________ Linux VPS from $10.99 only |

Hey Rapahel,
Linux and windows would be the operating system of the server on which your hosting plan would be set-up. This will not in anyway change your working. You can use a Linux hosting plan from your regular windows desktop. Every hosting plan comes with a very user friendly control panel with icons within them; this makes it very easy for customers to manage and administer their hosting account.
With linux, you will not be able to use ASP.NET and MS-SQL. Only windows support ASP and MS-SQL. MySQL is common to both the platforms. For a beginner in the webhosting world, linux would be easier to use and get along with.
Dreamweaver works on both the platforms without a hitch _________________ Host With Us

Linux is more popular than Windows hosting. Linux supports PHP natively and most of your free softwares are PHP. Windows can support PHP too but I suggest Linux.Linux is always cheaper than Windows. For that reason,Linux hosting tends to be cheaper than Windows hosting.Windows hosting is always going to cost more due to the licensing costs associate with have a windows server.Linux, being free, doesn't have those costs. _________________ 4gb m2 |

he first unique difference is how you access the server. Generally, both offer FTP access to your files, however, Linux is the only one that offers telnet or ssh access. This is probably due to the target audience that each operating system targets. While windows is targeted to the mass public, linux is probably more focused in that it provides many more features that would only be demanded by programmers and people familiar with computing and programming. In any case, while this may seem like a fundamental difference, there really is very little to separate FTP from telnet or ssh in the practical sense. While FTP allows you to download the file to work locally, telnet and ssh allows you to modify the root file on the web server by using unix commands. _________________ Olancer, No.1 Freelancing Jobsite

Linux is an open source system and is therefore more cost-effective to operate and maintain than Windows, meaning that Linux hosting will cost you less than Windows hosting. Linux also has a reputation for stability and speed which means that Linux web servers will crash less often than Windows web servers and Linux runs most processes faster than Windows. _________________ Dedicated Servers | Managed Servers

Linux web hosting is the best solution for most of web masters. Because many web scripts support in linux hosting. You can use a ssh connection to handle the web server. _________________ Cheap Web Hosting | Dedicated Web Hosting |
