A virtual dedicated server or virtual private server (VPS) is the technique to offer one of the methods of partitioning a server computer so as in can be made available to multiple users. That way, each server would have the façade as well as the capabilities of being able to run on its own on a dedicated computer or machine. With every vps hosting, there would be a developed operating system, which could independently run as well as reboot each server.
This kind of specific hosting is actually not a new technology. It has been in common practice for mainframe computers. Virtual dedicated server technology was born with the improvement of several virtualization software as well as technologies for the other architectures. Overall, it acts as a kind of bridge between the shared hosting services. Probably the biggest advantage in using a virtual private server would be the lower cost compared to dedicated servers.
as you make your selection for the appropriate company, these questions might be able to help you out with the one which you should select.
1. How would resource contention be handled? For example, what would happen if the other virtual dedicated servers on the host that you are using were running processes that are CPU/RAM-intensive?
2. What are the host's specifications such as the CPU, RAM and network thorough put?
3. Lastly, would you have a dedicated minimum RAM/CPU/Network usage amount? How much?
4. How many VDS would be running on the host server, which you would be on? _________________ Dedicated Servers | Managed Servers

A virtual private server (VPS), also called a virtual dedicated server (VDS), is a virtual server that appears to the user as a dedicated server but is actually installed on a computer serving multiple Web sites. A single computer can have several VPSs, each one with its own operating system (OS) that runs the hosting software for a particular user.
The hosting software for each VPS can include a Web server program, a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) program, a mail server program and specialized applications for activities such as e-commerce and blogging.
The VPS alternative is often chosen by small businesses that need a customized Web site but cannot afford a dedicated server. Another useful aspect of VPS technology is the ability of a single subscriber to maintain multiple virtual servers. For example a Web site owner might use one server for the production-level Web site and the other for a "dummy site" that can be used to test planned updates, modifications or new programs.

A virtual private server (VPS, also referred to as Virtual Dedicated Server or VDS) is a method of splitting a server. Each virtual server can run its own full-fledged operating system, and each server can be independently rebooted. _________________ Web Hosting for $0.49/m

One of the things that make VPS hosting so popular is the fact that it allows grass-root access for its clients without bringing along the hassle that could come with dedicated servers. A typical client for VPS hosting is an individual or business that need their hosting to be stronger and more customizable than shared hosting.

Virtual private server is a marketing term used by Internet hosting services to refer to a virtual machine for use exclusively by an individual customer of the service. The term is used to emphasize that the virtual machine, although running in software on the same physical computer as other customers' virtual machines, is functionally equivalent to a separate physical computer, is dedicated to the individual customer's needs, has the privacy of a separate physical computer, and can be configured to run as a server computer (i.e. to run server software). The term Virtual Dedicated Server or VDS is used less often for the same concept.
Each virtual server can run its own full-fledged operating system and can be independently rebooted. |

Virtual dedicated servers are particularly useful for companies and individuals that run higher-traffic Web sites or complex applications and thus need the bandwidth, consistent performance, and flexibility of a virtual dedicated server.

I agree with you.
A Virtual Private Server (VPS) is one step above shared server hosting. A Virtual Private Server (VPS) is a hosting environment that combines the benefits of both shared hosting and dedicated hosting. It does this by creating a virtual server that runs inside a hardware server via a specially designed partition.
Each Virtual Private Server partition runs its own operating system in a secure and private environment and cannot be accessed or interrupted by its neighbours.
This system gives you the same level of root access as a dedicated server whilst sharing the cost of the hardware. With a VPS you are virtually running your own server but at a fraction of the cost. _________________ Host With Us

Virtual dedicated servers use a special kind of partitioning technology that successfully creates several 'virtual' servers out of a single physical server. Every web site that is hooked on to a virtual dedicated server has a completely separate server space. The server behaves as if it was dedicated only to that website. Through this technology, hosting companies are able to create multiple servers using a single physical server. This reduces costs while providing maximum benefit to clients.

VPS (Virtual Private Server) has become the preferred hosting solution for small to medium sized businesses. VPS is a solution that effectively bridges the gap between the limitations of shared hosting and the flexibility of dedicated server hosting.
