Use this topic to list down all web designing tips you have to share with the community.

Organized Layout -Use white spaces. Dreamweaver templates are good source for layouts

Fonts - Try to use fonts that are available in all computers dont go for fancy fonts that have to be downloaded seperately. Use images in such cases.

The website should have a low load time. i.e. less flash content and graphics.

Do not have extra large images

I forgot to mention the most important

Design the website in the lowest possible resolution so that it will appear perfectly on all screen resolutions.

The single most important skill you can learn today to become a quality web designer is CSS programming.Don't stop designing your site as soon as you find that it looks great on IE. Usually Netscape gives some problems, especially when you try doing complicated HTML designs.

I don't agree with your statement:

Avoid using images as they are not Search Engine compatible

Hi,.
My name is Adam and I live in Aberdeen. Well to create an effective webdesign always remember the following:
1-- never use bright background
2- website logo is the main attraction, keep it simple and attractive, neither too big, nor too small.
3-the website should never be flooded with advertisements. If you want you can keep a small area at a corner for them.
4- keep site user friendly, as if it is communicating with the visitor.
5- always get a good recognized web hosting service, because it is not the right place to save money. It can affect your hard work you put in your website.
6- last but not the least.. keep good content in your site and update frequently, because regular updating keep the website alive..
