I agree that web hosting is very cheap these days. But that doesn't mean that we should be careless while selecting the web hosts. It is not so easy to change web hosts. It involves lot of problems and some times loss of valuable customers. So, what is most important is to take extra care while selecting a web host. According to me (i am in this business for a long time) the following points should be taken into care before going for a web host.

1. The first one is price. Never, i repeat Never, go for a web host, which offers you web hosting less than $3.00 (Rs. 140). Why, you may ask. Because it is not profitable (and hence not possible) for a web host to sell less than this and if someone sells less this price then you have to think twice or best run away from there.

2. Always go for UNLIMITED Web space and UNLIMITED Bandwidth. It is OK even if domains are less, but web space and bandwidth should be UNLIMITED, because you never know how your site performs. If your site becomes a block buster then this will be helpful.

3. Customer care should be 24x7x365, either through support ticket (reply time should be within 1 hr) or through Live Chat or through Toll free numbers.

4. Go for good emerging web hosts instead of already established and overcrowded web hosts.

5. Be skeptical about companies which offer you a very low price for the first month and then charge you higher rates for subsequent months.

If you buy a web space or even registering a domain... I must say not to buy 'em from a company based in Delhi especially you could know their hosting is done manually. If domain registration or web hosting are done manually they take lots of time (usually 2 to 4 days). Their support are poor and if you have grievances with the company and call them they may offer you to refund your money outright.

some hosting company owner have control over all the company staff all time. their staff even for a single glass of water (to serve a client) ask their owner to do it. their software they run are very poor performed and they give a very little chance to run further. If you are planning to buy a space or domain...think some companies like bigrock.in or bestwebhost.in...they offer nice hosting plans and they are good.
