Dedicated server security questions

Hi, I would like to recieve advice regarding a problem:
I rented a server and all was ok, but server is having a massive and brutal DDos attack, everyday my site is recieving lot of attacks from more than 15,000 diffirent IPs.

Server was rented 12 ago and I couldnt use it because of that.
firewalls are instaled. ip/tables and all regulard and standard stuff.

So what I need to so?

Make sure your OS and Server have the latest updates (regularly).
Use some port scanning tools and block unnecessary ports.
Make sure your FTP daemon is updated regulary to avoid the "FTP bounce attack" and check for any unknown files transferred to your servers.
Check if your system configuration has been changed.
Use an intrusion detection system.
Constant monitoring is a must.

My server has installed ip/tables
has firewalls
evasive
But DDOS still affecting my server
I think we need an expert regarding DDOS and Flood

It sounds like Flood control is the thing you need first. What type of site is it, a proxy site or something because they are constantly under attack!!

You are right auctionguy my server was suffering a Flood attack.
I had to close my site because of that
